Can you make a living as a CNA?

Depending on experience and location, the yearly and hourly wage of CNA's can vary. According to information provided by the Bureau of Labor Statistics from 2012, CNA's earned around $25,000 a year. However, this has exponentially grown over the years. As of 2021, CNAs can expect to earn anywhere from $29,000 to almost $40,000 a year in Texas. Salary ranges can vary depending on location, education, experience, certifications, skills, and much more.

The results of COVID-19 caused the need for nurses and other roles in the health field to intensify drastically. According to the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, As of 2020, facilities and government agencies have altered numerous policies and practices to adjust to COVID-19. Many facilities also provided the following: wages have increased, and mental health support is available to help cope with anxiety, grief, or fatigue that may be experienced by nurses due to COVID-19, along with other benefits.

Is it possible to make a living as a CNA? Of course! Nursing assistants can start a position at $12-$14 an hour. As you grow in this field, opportunities will be available to move up the "ladder" like any other job. Always strive to grow as an individual, nursing assistant, and overall in your place.
